Gut Reactions: Impressive Villa Overpower Arsenal

  • The previous two games didn’t feel like an accurate representation of what this Villa team is. Tonight was much more like it.
  • Some Villa fans really want Dean Smith sacked. LOL.
  • Glad that McGinn’s disallowed goal is now irrelevant. Letter of the law says it should’ve been ruled out but common sense tells you Leno was never saving it with a clear view or not.
  • Barkley adds another dimension to this team. Passes in the build-up for the first and second goals were top quality.
  • Not a fan of his Ashley Westwood style corners though; unless they’re aiming for Grealish on the volley, they’re ineffective.
  • Matt Targett had a really good game in attack and defence.
  • Luiz’s pass over the top took seven Arsenal defenders out of the game to help make the second goal.
  • Matty Cash seems to be up against a tough opponent every week and always holds his own.
  • Great game from Watkins. His adept hold up play always surprises me and he’s a true poacher in front of goal. He was also back defending his own penalty area at 3-0 up with ten minutes left. The guy doesn’t stop.
  • Grealish was relatively quiet in the first half, but when the game opened up in the second, he showed his quality. His run and weight of pass for the third goal were outstanding.
  • Konsa is getting better every week.
  • Thought it was weird that Smith waited until the 88th minute to make his only sub.
  • This Villa team is very well-suited to play with a lead; solid defensively and dangerous on the break.
  • The all black away kit is sublime.
  • We now get to spend the next two weeks complaining that Grealish and Mings aren’t playing for England.
  • Up the Villa.
